Butler BlueSox are the next team in the Prospect League to add Micro Fantasy to their fan experience

February 6, 2018

In 2017, the Butler BlueSox of Pennsylvania vied for their first ever Prospect League Championship against the Lafayette Aviators.  Though the Aviators prevailed, the BlueSox are revved to carry their momentum through to the 2018 season.  New this season, fans of the BlueSox will be able to play along with their boys of summer by predicting the outcome of each at bat with Micro Fantasy.

This summer, the BlueSox's home field at Kelly Automotive Park will be transformed into a digitally interactive stadium with the help of Micro Fantasy.  "What Micro Fantasy will do is create a new way to experience a baseball game, anyone watching can now become a participant," said Larry Sassone, Managing Partner for the Butler BlueSox.

"Those who have played fantasy sports for years know how having your own team can change the way you watch a game! What Micro Fantasy's app does is eliminate much of the learning curve fantasy sports games can have and allow anyone--even younger fans or those with little baseball knowledge--to have fun while playing along...Our FANS are mobile! ButlerBlueSox.net had over 160,000 page views in 2017...80% were on mobile devices," explained Sassone of the BlueSox's digital strategies.

Fans can expect to win prizes from their favorite local sponsors while making predictions on their phones about whether the current batter will strike out, ground out, hit a double, or a home run (among other outcomes).  Fans also get to see in real time which outcomes others are predicting, creating some extra friendly competition within the already enjoyable BlueSox fan experience.  Local sponsors and contest prizes will be announced closer to opening day.

The BlueSox join the West Virginia Miners as the second team in the Prospect League to incorporate the Micro Fantasy experience into their game day action.  Fans will be pleased to know these two teams will face off 15 times during this upcoming season!
